Vice-Chancellor's Message
Dear Student,
ECU is offering you the opportunity to take advantage of the latest laptop technology at a specially negotiated price to help make the most of your studies.
We want you to succeed – and having wireless access during lectures and tutorials on campus means you can be online whenever you want. You’ll be able to get ahead and stay there.
Our ECU Advantage program is the result of the university’s strategic educational alliance with IBM, and our investment in an extensive wireless mesh network with Nortel – the first of its kind in the Asia Pacific region.
We have researched the use of laptops by classes of students across ECU and have found that students benefit immensely from increased use of technology, building business skills that employers increasingly demand.
You’ll be able to make use of the vast array of ECU electronic learning resources and tools from any point on campus, as well as in cafes, on the train, bus and from home.
Of course if you are unable to participate in this program, be assured that we will continue to provide free access to computers through the university’s megalabs. However, please be aware that these facilities can become crowded and even full at peak times - despite the fact that we have increased the number of computers available.
With all good wishes for your continued progress at ECU.
Professor Kerry O.Cox
